We are Sheffield. We are proud. The Outdoor City – resourceful, inventive, welcoming, rooted in its history and ambitious for the future. It’s time to shout loud about our amazing city and its people.
Can you help us showcase the council’s work, in the media, on social media and with our communities? We are looking for a talented and driven Assistant Video Reporter to help us celebrate the great things going on in Sheffield.
You’ll have an eye for a story, a passion for creative content, and an understanding of what journalists want. You’ll create videos that the media want to use and that engage our diverse audiences on social media. You’ll work with our senior leaders and councillors, and you’ll share clear, accessible and informative content on the big issues affecting the Council and our city.
We need someone who can seek out opportunities for coverage, who is comfortable using the latest social media channels and approaches to reach our audiences, and someone who understands how to communicate “with” not “at” our diverse communities. In Sheffield we stand up for our communities, and there will be a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in all that you do.
We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
If appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
It’s an exciting time to be joining Sheffield City Council. If you can help us tell our story, get in touch.
